Dr. Martha Piper thanks Building Ops crews for making UBC 100 celebration a success
Thanks to the efforts of Bill Toor, Florante Navarra and Dumitra Gheorgheos from Custodial Services; Jas Badesha, Bob Khella, Georges Bisson, George Beris from the Labour Crew; Phil Beck and Gregg Doughty from Soft Landscape; and James Bellavance; Dr. Martha Piper sent a handwritten thank you note for their stellar efforts in contributing to the success of the centennial celebration.
Updated list of buildings served by the DES as of October 15 is now available
Check out the latest DES Updates to know which buildings are running on the district energy hot water heating system and which buildings will be coming online soon.
Current Handover Status for PARC Library and the Engineering Student Centre
PARC Library currently has provisional occupancy. No dates scheduled for demonstrations at this time and no firm date set for building handover. Contractors are working through some issues with the mechanical system.
Engineering Student Centre currently has provisional occupancy. The mechanical demonstrations are complete. The electrical and controls demonstrations are scheduled for Thursday October 22 at 8 am at the site. Building handover is scheduled for Friday October 23.
Building Operations presents on EAOS and Communications at PCAPPA 2015
Last year we hosted the PCAPPA 2014 conference. To make sure we we’re represented and to build on our investment from last year, we sent a small group to this year’s conference in nearby Portland to present on some of the interesting things we’re doing here. Did you Drop, Cover and Hold On at 10:15am for ShakeOut BC?
2015 will mark UBC’s fifth year participating in the province-wide ShakeOut BC earthquake preparedness exercise. It is important to do a DROP, COVER, and HOLD ON drill to react quickly in the event of an earthquake. You may only have seconds to protect yourself and practicing helps you be ready to respond.
UBC Committed to Protecting Academic Freedom
UBC released the summary of a report by the Honourable Lynn Smith, which outlines her findings relating to allegations that, following the publication of a blog post by Professor Jennifer Berdahl on August 8, 2015, the Chair of the Board of Governors or individuals in the Sauder School of Business interfered with her academic freedom or violated relevant UBC policies.
